Life Story for
Carolyn Ann Prokop (McGrath)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Carolyn A. Prokop (McGrath) of Shrub Oak, NY. Carolyn, born October 9th, 1940 in Yonkers, NY passed away on July 26, 2017 in Hudson Valley Hospital at the age of 76. Carol shared 53 years of her life married to the late Frank J. Prokop Jr. She was a proud entrepreneur and owner of Frank’s Franks hot dog stand in Putnam county for over 25 years. Through Frank’s Franks, Carol developed extensive friendships and relationships not only within her local community but also with people from all over the country who happened to stop by her stand. Once retired in 2011, Carol became an avid bingo connoisseur. She was also actively involved as a volunteer at the VA and her local Senior Center with her friend Richard. She is preceded in death by her sister Ann Marie Mendelson (McGrath). Carol is survived by her brother, Francis (Sonny) McGrath; two children, Frank J. Prokop III and wife Sheri, and Linda Mergler (Prokop) and partner Tim Griffiths; seven grandchildren, Jeff and wife Susan, Jeremy, Frank J. Prokop IX and wife Kristy, Jake and wife Jennifer, Billy, Janie and Paige (daughters of Daniel Mergler); and seven greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday July 28th, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Shrub Oak, NY from 6pm-9pm. Burial services will be held on Saturday July 29th, 2017, at 12pm at Rose Hill Cemetary in Putnam Valley, NY.
